As I’ve mentioned before, I had to scale-down my retrim plans slightly when my quote for half the job was my budget for the whole lot. This could be pretty easily rectified by doing half the job myself.
This weekend I tackled the headliner and put a couple of the pillars back in to see how it was all going to look.
Equipment: Tin of high-temp fabric adhesive, medium brush, steam cleaner with fabric/crease attachment, ground sheet, the new fabric, a spare pair of hands and plenty of time.
To repeat a previous post, I ended up using non-genuine Alcantara-like fabric after collecting a range of samples. This stuff had a white back and seemed to have good stretch which I knew would help fit the contours of the various parts. Although as a rule, I think it’s best to avoid backed fabrics as they will usually restrict the stretch.
Also very pleased I sourced black S4 grab handles, sun visors, etc. or it would’ve looked stupid. Pretty damn happy with how this turned out, but not quite finished yet.
